Join the lab!

Interested students are welcome to participate in the research conducted in our lab throughout the year. Open PhD and Postdoc positions will be announced at this page. We offer different topics for bachelor and master theses and also welcome your ideas and suggestions for other thesis topics. Please find a selection of topics listed or request further topics by contacting Prof. Nico Eisenhauer.

Humboldt postdoc fellowship

The Humbolt Foundation is scouting for researchers (postdocs) from underrepresented regions of the globe. For that, they developed a scouting program particularly dedicated to supporting excellent female scientists, and Nico Eisenhauer has the honor to serve as one of their scouts. In this context, we are looking for a scientist with expertise in ecology/ macroecology.

For this second round of candidates (2022), there are three main topics:

1) The candidate should be interested in synthesizing/modelling global data on soil biodiversity, carbon cycling, and soil-biosphere-atmosphere interactions (context: e.g. Soil BON; https://geobon.org/bons/thematic-bon/soil-bon/); or

2) The candidate should be interested in plant-mycorrhizae interactions and work in the broad context of the MyDiv Experiment (https://www.idiv.de/de/research/platforms-and-networks/mydiv.html) in TreeDivNet (https://treedivnet.ugent.be/); or

3) The candidate should be interested in biodiversity effects on ecosystem functioning with a focus on plant-soil interactions in the broad context of the Jena Experiment (http://the-jena-experiment.de/) on mechanisms underlying long-term biodiversity effects on ecosystem functioning (https://riojournal.com/article/47042/).
