Contents

The workshop will give an overview of important delegation skills based on the differentiation between supervision, mentoring and delegation in Academia.

Main topics are: Clarification of roles and tasks as scientific supervisor and mentor, expectation management and clear goal setting in the team, development of individual delegation strategies based on the model of Situational Leadership (Ken Blanchard)

Participants will gain deeper knowledge about the following aspects:

  • Better understanding of the differences between supervision, mentoring and delegation in Academia and therefore role clarity as a supervisor and mentor
  • Better understanding of clear goal setting and efficient delegation talks
  • Deeper understanding of the individual needs of the students, trainees and research assistants

This online workshop has an interactive approach, combining the following elements:

  • Input of models and basic theory (Situational Leadership)
  • Self-reflection and team analysis
  • Peer group exchange in Breakout Sessions
  • Working with own cases in small groups
  • Role plays and discussions

The event will take place online and in English.

Open to postdocs with first leadership experience in academia.


Dr. Dorothee Kaiser

... is an international coach and facilitator in the aera of leadership and team development, with the focus on communication, role clarity and intercultural team building. She holds a PHD in linguistic and is lecturer for Intercultural Management at ESB Business School, Reutlingen University.
