Scientific knowledge is increasingly important in policy making. In this course you will learn about important biodiversity policy processes and projects and how scientists can play a role in them. In excursions to the German Environment Agency (UBA), Leipzig Zoo and the project “Wild Dessau – Städte wagen Wildnis” you will get to know job profiles and opportunities and discuss with practitioners working on the “policy side” of biodiversity. yDiv covers travel expenses for yDiv doctoral researchers.

Agenda:

  • Introduction to iDiv work at the Science-Policy interface
  • Intro to global biodiversity policy (incl. practical exercises)
  • Introduction to biodiversity policy at the European and national level
  • Excursion to Dessau (UBA and “Wild Dessau – Städte wagen Wildnis)
