Project summary:
Bumble bees are in decline across North America and Europe. But in regions such as Asia, where the diversity of these important pollinators is greatest, existing data has not been assembled for analysis. We will assemble a global bumble bee dataset to analyze spatiotemporal changes in bumble bee diversity and drivers of change. We will develop a protocol for a global bumble bee monitoring program that takes advantage of emerging technology in artificial intelligence for sampling and identifying bumble bees.
