rangeShifter - Synthesising population, community, genetic and evolutionary dynamics in a simulation platform: a tool for theory and application

First meeting: 28.10.-01.11.2013

PIs:
Justin Travis
Alexander Singer

Working group postdoc:
Alexander Singer

iDiv member:

Project summary:
This project brings together world-leading researchers in ecology, evolution and genetics to seek greater understanding of how biodiversity will respond to climate change. The projects will synthesise state-of-the-art knowledge from population ecology, community ecology, evolutionary ecology and population genetics within a new computer simulation tool. This novel software will provide a common platform for addressing a broad range of important current issues, both fundamental and applied. It will facilitate integration between subdisciplines and thus help us progress towards providing robust recommendations for managing our biodiversity under the multiple human-caused pressures that it currently faces.

Participants:
Kamil Barton (University of Aberdeen), Greta Bocedi (University of Aberdeen), Jon Bridle (University of Bristol), Luc De Meester (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), William Godsoe (University of Canterbury), Jessica Hellmann (University of Notre Dame), Klaus Henle (UFZ - Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research), Robert D Holt (University of Florida), Andreas Huth (UFZ - Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research), Karin Johst (UFZ - Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research), Cornelia Krug (DIVERSITAS), Jean-Baptiste Mihoub (UFZ - Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research), Makiko Mimura (Kyushu University), Stephen Palmer (University of Aberdeen), Jelena Pantel (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), Guy Pe’er (UFZ - Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research), Andreas Schmitz (UFZ - Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research), Alexander Singer (Deutsches Zentrum für integrative Biodiversitätsforschung - iDiv), Justin Travis (University of Aberdeen), Patrick Zollner (Purdue University)
