Dr. Juan Carvajal Quintero
My research focuses on understanding how distribution patterns of biodiversity are achieved and how global environmental change is and may affect these patterns, with an emphasis on freshwater fishes. To do this, I use and integrate different data types and theoretical frameworks that allow me to explore different perspectives of the origin, maintenance, and reshaping of biodiversity. I am also interested in the application of this knowledge to support conservation and decision making in tackling the main problems faced by people and nature today.
