Do you have scientific findings that might be relevant to ongoing policy processes or policymakers? Would you like to learn how communicate your research effectively at the policy level and explore a practical tool to do so?

Policy Briefs are a widely recognised communication tool that helps policymakers and decision makers understand scientific findings and consider evidence-based recommendations in their work. However, translating scientific knowledge into policy-relevant messages and learning how to speak “policy” are essential steps in effectively communicating research beyond academia.

In this one-day workshop, we will cover several aspects of communicating at the science-policy interface, including how to identify your target groups, build networks and engage with policymakers. We will also discuss the role of political contexts, scientific integrity and the role of science in policymaking, and what makes policy recommendations effective.

A central focus of the workshop will be the structure and writing of policy briefs. Through a hands-on exercise, you will develop your own policy brief (draft), learning how to identify key messages from your research, communicate them clearly and concisely, and formulate targeted recommendations for policymakers.

No prior experience is required. You are welcome to bring your own research topic or work with a fictional example developed during the workshop.
