This course provides a practical introduction to writing scientific publications. It is designed for doctoral students in the natural and life sciences who are preparing to write their first or subsequent papers.

The course is organised by UFZ/HIGRADE in cooperation with the iDiv Graduate School.

This course provides a practical introduction to writing scientific publications. It explains the general structure of scientific publications and provides a template for writing first drafts.

Once the results have been organised and the core message, provisional title and abstract have been formulated, the main parts of all sections of the manuscript will be outlined and partly produced.
The course includes recommendations for useful literature on scientific writing, as well as practical advice on how to organise and improve the writing process. The use of AI tools will be demonstrated and discussed.
