The PhD Welcome Week provides new doctoral researchers with essential information, practical tools and helpful guidance to support a successful start to their PhD journey in integrative biodiversity science at iDiv. It is also a great opportunity to meet fellow doctoral researchers, exchange experiences and start building your network.
Throughout the week, you will discover iDiv’s mission, research goals and key challenges in integrative biodiversity science. You will get to know the work of iDiv’s Core Research Groups, explore how their research contributes to understanding and conserving biodiversity, and have the opportunity to introduce your own PhD project in short pitches and exchange ideas with fellow researchers. The programme also includes a visit to one of iDiv’s research platforms, the Botanical Garden in Leipzig.
You will learn about the opportunities and requirements of the iDiv Graduate School, explore the roles and responsibilities of doctoral supervision, and learn about the doctoral examination regulations at your university. You will also discover practical strategies and tools to support your well-being, maintain a healthy work–life balance and stay motivated throughout your doctorate.
