The Summer School on Classical biological control of ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) and other invasive weeds will be held by CABI (The Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International) Switzerland center on August 22-26th 2016.

Ambrosia artemisiifolia is a weed which causes important losses in European crops as well as allergic diseases due to its pollen. The Suistanable Management of Ambrosia artemisiifolia in Europe (SMARTER) initiative together with CABI are organizing a Summer School for young scientist. During the summer school the participant are expected to approach the history of current methodologies and regulations in classical biological control (CBC) of weeds, CBC of arthropod pests, working in groups to design host-range studies of biocontrol agents against the common ragweed, practical training in ongoing CBC projects at the CABI Centre. The 10 full-granted participants are young scientist from all over the world (Israel, Italy, Armenia, Spain, Mexico and Serbia). Teresa (iDiv) is one of the selected young scientist to attend this Summer School since she has a background in entomology and she is highly interested on the applying research for pest management.
