iDiv guest Carsten Meyer, along with collaborators from the University of Göttingen, published a comprehensive study on limitations in global plant records in the journal Ecology Letters. According to the study, pervasive information gaps and uncertainties compromise options for effectively studying and conserving global plant diversity. Because substantial data improvements are unlikely in the near term, ecological studies should make best-possible use of existing information, by explicitly accounting for their various limitations.
