The Research Network on Economic Experiments for the Common Agricultural Policy (REECAP) was established in 2017 as a network that brings together researchers, evaluators, businesses, and policymakers interested in the use of economic experimental approaches for more evidence-based policy design and evaluation. It promotes collaboration in the field of policy evaluation for agriculture and food systems. It develops methodological advances in economic and behavioural experimental research and it nourishes open science practices, with the view to promote the use of these approaches in policy evaluation in Europe and beyond. For example, in a joint effort, REECAP members undertook a replication study in 11 European countries to measure the risk preferences of farmers.
Much of REECAP’s work is based on findings from biodiversity sciences and is directly related to the design of policies and can, therefore, help to improve future policies. Strong connections to iDiv’s research missions are present, for example, when it comes to bringing findings about biodiversity on agricultural lands into policy contexts.
iDiv will host the upcoming annual REECAP meeting between the 2nd and the 5th of June 2025. For more information about REECAP and the annual meeting, please visit REECAP’s official website.
