Contents

This workshop aims to introduce participants to the principles of good scientific practice, including responsible research documentation and authorship. Participants will discuss questionable research conduct and misconduct, and learn about possible solutions for difficult situations.

The workshop is based on the curriculum „Good Scientific Practice“ which was commissioned by and developed in cooperation with the German Ombudsman für die Wissenschaft.

Topics include:

  • Definition of good scientific practice and scientific misconduct & DFG guidelines
  • iDiv Code of Conduct
  • Data management and research documentation
  • Authorship
  • Supervision
  • Dealing with scientific misconduct

Methods include case studies, breakout groups and plenary discussions.

Lecturer

Dr Nicole Sachmerda-Schulz

Nicole is the coordinator of the yDiv graduate school and a counselor at iDiv. She studied sociology and science management, and she is a trainer for good scientific practice.
