PhD & Postdoc Project Call 2026

iDiv is pleased to invite applications for PhD and Postdoc positions to instigate innovative research projects that integrate expertise across the iDiv community.

Deadlines

Pre-proposal deadline: 28 May 2026 (11:59 PM CET)
Full proposal deadline: 10 August 2026 (11:59 PM CET)
Project start: between January and June 2027

At a glance:

Scope: Projects must foster integration across the various areas of expertise within the iDiv community
Consumables: up to €2,500 per year. Additional funding can be applied for to cover well-justified expenses (e.g., field or lab work)
Position: Postdoctoral researcher position (100%, E13 TV-L) or doctoral researcher position (65%, E13 TV-L)
Duration:
- Three years for postdoctoral researcher
- Three years for the doctoral researchers (a one-year extension is being considered for completing the dissertation, pending project evaluation and funding availability)
Researchers will be recruited through an open and international recruitment call initiated by iDiv
Main workplace: PI’s institution
Employer: One of the three universities in Halle, Jena, and Leipzig or the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ

Eligibility (Main PI):

Affiliation: All iDiv Members employed at a research institution in Central Germany
Contract: Must be employed for the entire duration of the project
