Research interests

My research focuses on understanding and quantifying how global environmental change and human activities affect biodiversity, and on translating this knowledge into better decisions for biodiversity conservation and sustainability. I use approaches from macroecology, biogeography and ecological modelling to investigate how climate and land-use change shape species distributions, communities and biodiversity patterns across spatial scales.

I am particularly interested in capturing multiple dimensions of biodiversity, including taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic diversity, and in understanding how these dimensions respond to environmental change. Building on this work, I use biodiversity data and modelling to inform decision-making. This includes assessing how well protected areas represent biodiversity and future environmental conditions, developing approaches to evaluate conservation priorities under different objectives, and developing decision-support tools for users with different information needs. My current research extends this approach to economic activities, exploring how biodiversity data and scientific assessments can be used to understand biodiversity impacts and provide useful information for stakeholders and decision-makers.
