Call for Stay Abroad Funding 2026
We are happy to invite you to apply for a stay abroad as part of your PhD training. The stay is intended to strengthen research skills, contribute to your academic and professional development and to set up an international network at an early stage.
You may spend your stay abroad at either a scientific or non-scientific institution — for example, a research group at a university, a non-governmental organisation or a company. Your stay abroad should have objectives that align with your PhD project (e.g., collecting material, conducting analyses, or co-authoring a paper) or with your career goals (e.g., setting up a scientific network and/or gaining work experiences).
Please note that summer school visits, conference participations, or field work cannot be accepted as a stay abroad. The stays abroad can take place between March and December 2026.
Submission and Deadline
Please submit the application as a PDF file to ydiv@idiv.de by 15 February 2026. Applications will be evaluated by members of the Education Board, and the selection will be made by mid-March.
