Applying for yDiv funding for a Stay Abroad

• Up to three applicants will be supported per year.
• Each selected applicant may receive funding of up to €2,000. We can only fund costs for transport (i.e., flight and/or train tickets according to cheapest option) and basic accommodation. Please note that it is your responsibility to find out and comply with the requirements of your institution regarding e.g., insurances, “Entsendung”, daily allowance etc. Please also note that we can offer administrational support only for certain travel arrangements.
• The duration of the research stay can last from two weeks as a minimum up to three months as a maximum between March and December 2026.
• The stay cannot be split into several shorter visits.

• You should be at least in the second year of your PhD.
• You must be an active member of the iDiv Graduate School (e.g., taking regularly part in courses, annual PAC meetings, and reporting; additional commitment, such as being a member of a committee or scientific outreach activities, is beneficial).
• You must demonstrate the relevance and importance of your planned stay to your PhD project and/or your future career development.
• Your main supervisor must approve and sign the application.

The application includes

1. A detailed motivation letter explaining the purpose of the stay abroad, its relevance to your PhD project or/and how it will contribute to your academic and professional development.
2. A brief description of the planned host institution or research group and the intended activities.
