My research interests

A geographer by training, my research focuses on the interactions between land use, agriculture, conservation, and climate change. I am particularly interested in exploring synergies and trade-offs between food production, biodiversity protection, (coastal) land management, and climate adaptation. I investigate promising pathways that balance ecological and socio-economic goals and support societal acceptance. Using participatory methods, I engage with farmers, local communities, civil society organizations, and decision-makers to co-develop sustainable land management strategies that align local land use needs and practices with broader conservation and climate objectives.

I currently work within the LAFERIA project (https://laferia-project.eu/), which aims at restoring landscape features (e.g. hedgerows, ponds, riparian buffers) on intensively used farmland as a contribution to meeting the goals of the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030 and the Nature Restoration Regulation.
