PhD programme

The yDiv PhD programme “in a nutshell”:

  • Completing 12 ECTS credit points following the yDiv curriculum including courses and activities
  • PhD Advisory Committee (PAC): regular meetings with internal and external experts to monitor progress, help prioritize and value your work
  • Undertaking a research stay at a laboratory abroad

Being part of yDiv also means:

  • Participation in the yDiv retreat and the iDiv Annual Conference
  • Getting introduced to yDiv with a fellow yDiv doctoral researcher as your tutor
  • Building yourself a professional network via the iDiv consortium and its top-level collaborators and visitors
  • Access to a variety of courses, events and activities at the graduate academies of the consortium universities, as well as the HIGRADE graduate school of the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ
  • Participating in the workshops of the synthesis centre sDiv
  • Getting a post doc mentor to guide you in essential researcher skills
  • Getting peer support at monthly PhD meetings in Halle, Jena and Leipzig
  • Developing your skills in helping to organize a conference, retreat etc. at iDiv
  • Taking part in social events, retreats or afternoon tea time sessions at iDiv
  • Being up to date via the mailing lists of yDiv and iDiv
