sBIOMAPS – Exploring BIOgeographic and MAcroevolutionary Patterns in organismal Stoichiometric diversity

First meeting: 25.-29.11.2019

PIs:
Angelica Gonzalez
Olivier Dézerald

iDiv members:
Stanley Harpole
Ulrich Brose
Malte Jochum

Project summary:
Due to a shared evolutionary history, organisms across the tree of life share a biochemistry based on carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and other elements. This large stoichiometric diversity ultimately reflects the evolution of diverse life history strategies related to organismal form and function as well as their responses to environmental regimes. sBIOMAPS takes an integrated and multiscale (spatial, taxonomic and phylogenetic) approach to help shed light on the major processes shaping the global stoichiometric diversity of life.
