|
Join us at the upcoming yDiv Postdoc Retreat from 18 – 20 September 2024. We are thrilled to announce this year`s retreat topic:
Design your own career: Profound career decisions and successful job applications in the postdoc phase
Your current postdoc phase is just one chapter in your professional journey. Therefore, making good and profound career decisions regarding your future career path is of considerable importance. Instead of immediately dive into job searches, the crucial first step involves careful analysis and self-reflection. This is the key to your productive career planning, focusing on short- and long-term goals.
Our retreat aims to provide insights into diverse career paths inside and outside academia and guiding you to discover and reflect on your own professional profile. Crafting your unique career profile lays a solid foundation for strategic career planning and decision making. On this basis, you will be able to develop a strategy for your next professional steps.
After developing a good career strategy, often many questions in writing job applications and preparing for interviews are incoming. Probably, you are unsure with the whole application and interviewing process and how to deal with typical job interview questions. You are not clear about your competencies and find it hard to put them into words. However, it is fundamental that you can describe your competencies in a concise way, if you want to apply successfully for positions within and outside academia. Transitioning from planning to action, our retreat bridges competency assessment with job application readiness. We equip you with the tools to confidently navigate the application process, articulate your skills effectively, and prepare for job interviews.
After the postdoc retreat, you will
- have developed your own professional career profile (e.g. competencies, values, framework conditions) and know how to communicate it in job interviews
- recognize the variety of postdoc career options inside and outside academia
- be able to make good and profound career decisions for the future
- take the next steps in your personal career planning
- be prepared for writing job applications and know how to deal with typical job interview questions
- know how to tailor your applications to the requirements of the job and how to highlight your key competencies
