Research interests

As a geographer, I am interested in establishing synergies between different topics and datasets to inform Earth System Science and, ideally, influence political action. Having specialized in remote sensing, I actively use satellite technologies in my research and am flexible in the combination of image analysis and GIS techniques to describe land surface processes on different spatial, temporal and thematic scales.

During my career, I worked on different topics such human and natural hazards, land-cover and land-use change, agricultural water use and animal movement. Now, I bring my expertise to the Macroecology & Society lab at (iDiv), funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, to help map and explain complex, global ecological patterns.
