Dr Duarte Viana

Research interests
I am broadly interested in understanding how biodiversity is distributed on Earth by studying the processes governing community structure and species distributions, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the delineation of general principles in community ecology and biogeography. My present work aims at understanding how spatial and sampling scale influence the inference of community assembly processes – niche, neutral and spatial processes – made from diversity patterns.
