yDiv/HIGRADE course: Science communication – how to connect with your audience
No matter whether you talk face-to-face to colleagues at a conference, to your best friend about what you do, or to write a text (paper, article, blog, tweet) - all of us like to and need to get the message across to our audience. But this is not as easy as it seems to be. Once we know who our audience is, we can start to better understand their needs and expectations. In this workshop we will focus on our audience and work on establishing contact with them. Based on this we start working on how to communicate both in oral and written form. Through discussion and practice, we will focus on fundamental and transferable skills that you need to communicate about your work and why it matters.
This workshop will include improvisational theatre exercises and be highly interactive to provide multiple learning and experience opportunities.
It aims at PhD researchers, but is also suitable for postdocs and team leaders. Participants need to get actively involved in the workshop through discussions, group work and interactive sessions.
