This course offers you an introduction about the application of metabolomics in ecological and biodiversity research. We will extensively explore the tools and approaches that are used to obtain, process and analyze metabolomics data.
After completing the course, you will have the necessary skills to understand the metabolomics workflow to design a good metabolomics experiment. Furthermore, we will apply bioinformatics software to carry out the basic steps of data analysis.
The course program will consist of lectures, hands-on sessions in sampling, sample preparation, metabolomic data analyses and critical discussions on metabolomic datasets and case studies of the course participants. The course will partially take place on green houses/botanical garden and the laboratories of the Molecular Interaction Ecology group.

Lecturers
Prof Nicole van Dam is head of the research group Molecular Interaction Ecology at iDiv. Her research focus is the chemical and molecular mechanisms governing multitrophic interactions associated with plants.
