Trait-Based Eco-Evolutionary Modeling
|
Contents
Trait-based modeling is an increasingly popular way to incorporate diversity in ecological models and to link ecological and evolutionary dynamics. In this short course, you will learn the basics of trait-based eco-evolutionary modeling using the EcoEvo package for Mathematica.
Programme
The first day will cover necessary background concepts (invasion analysis, optimization theory) and the main concepts of adaptive dynamics in the simplest ecological context. The second (optional) day will expand this foundation by showing how complications such as structured populations, multiple guilds, multiple traits, and non-equilibrium dynamics can be incorporated in this framework.
Participants should be familiar with mathematical models using differential equations, but working experience in analyzing them is not required, nor is previous experience with Mathematica.
This course is open to all researchers at iDiv!
