This course will help you understand the key research topics in biodiversity conservation and familiarize you to the actors, regulations, and tools.
The course addresses key topics in global biodiversity change, including:
1. Biodiversity conservation and society: social-ecological systems, perspectives and values on nature
2. Science-policy interface: CBD, IPBES, GEO BON, European and National Biodiversity Plans Post 2020
3. Understanding biodiversity change and consequences for ecosystem services: monitoring, modelling and scenarios
4. Managing biodiversity: conservation planning, rewilding and sustainable harvesting
5. Tools to manage drivers: remote responsibility, legal tools, economic tools and behavioral tools
This is an intensive 5-day course consisting of lectures and discussion on relevant papers. An additional 30 hours of self-study is required for successful completion of the course.
