Otago-Zwergskink (Oligosoma otagense<\/em>), Status auf der Roten Liste der IUCN: Vom Aussterben bedroht. Der Otago-Skink ist in Neuseeland beheimatet und kommt in zwei getrennten Populationen auf Otago vor. Man geht davon aus, dass das Verbreitungsgebiet dieser Art im letzten Jahrhundert aufgrund von Bedrohungen wie Raubtieren und der vom Menschen verursachten Zerstörung von Graslandhabitaten um 90 % zurückgegangen ist.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Zhous-Scharnierschildkröte (Cuora zhoui<\/em>), Status auf der Roten Liste der IUCN: Vom Aussterben bedroht, wahrscheinlich in freier Wildbahn ausgestorben. Diese wahrscheinlich in China, Vietnam oder Laos beheimatete Art ist durch den nicht nachhaltigen Abbau in Asien zur Herstellung von Nahrungsmitteln und traditioneller Medizin bedroht. Sie ist nur von chinesischen Märkten und aus Gefangenschaft bekannt und wurde nie in freier Wildbahn gefunden.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Basierend auf einer Medienmitteilung von NatureServe, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) und Conservation International<\/strong><\/p>\n

Virginia, Halle. M<\/strong>indestens 21 % aller Reptilienarten weltweit sind vom Aussterben bedroht. <\/strong>Zu diesem Schluss kommt eine Studie, die unter der Leitung von NatureServe, der International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) und Conservation International sowie unter Mitwirkung des Deutschen Zentrums für integrative Biodiversitätsforschung (iDiv) und der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) durchgeführt wurde. Die nun in der Fachzeitschrift Nature veröffentlichte Studie zeigt auch, dass d<\/strong>ie Schutzbemühungen für andere Tiere auch zum Erhalt vieler Reptilienarten beitragen.<\/strong>
