The participants will learn the fundamentals of GIS, including how to read, write and plot basic data types and basic operations most commonly used. The two days are divided into 45-minutes long lectures with practical exercises. Participants are expected to develop a small, final individual\/group project of their interest.<\/p>\n

The participants will gain a basic understanding of spatial data and analyses for ecological research. In addition, they will familiarize themselves with GIS software and tools commonly used in the field.<\/p>\n

Prior knowledge of the R programming language is required. <\/em><\/p>\n

Participants are encouraged to install the R package `terra` before the start of the course:<\/em><\/p>\n

    Guilherme Pinto:<\/strong> I am a computer\/data scientist interested in the impacts from climate change on the Baltic sea and on fisheries.
