sMoste - Motifs supporting STability of Ecosystem services

First meeting: 02.-05.05.2023

PIs:
Kate Wootton
Anshuman Swain

iDiv member:
Ulrich Brose

Project summary:
Predicting the effects of global change on nature’s contribution to people (NCP) can be a challenge, particularly in highly diverse regions. We will develop theory to examine whether certain motifs - small subnetworks of interacting species - help stabilize NCP, and explore how data quality can affect inferences. Collaboratively with local researchers, we will then apply these insights to highly diverse but understudied Indian ecosystems to learn how local food webs support NCP and how they may be affected by global change.

In person participants:
Ulrich Brose (iDiv); Lucy Van Kleunen (University of Colorado Boulder); Cian White (University of Dublin); Kate Wootton (University of Canterbury)

Remote partcipants:
Mayank Kohli (National Centre for Biological Sciences); Anshuman Swain (Harvard University)
