Research Focus
As coordinator of the platform EcoMetEor I convey the infrastructural and knowledge basis for Ecometabolomic Analyses, especially for scientist who are not familiar with these kinds of analyses. I coordinate research stays for ecologists and biodiversity researchers to provide them the possibility to analyze their samples and to understand the experimental workflow. In addition, the EcoMetEoR platform organizes multiples PhD courses per year to give hands on training on sampling, LC-MS measurement and Data Analysis. Furthermore we are currently producing a video tutorial which will help researchers from iDiv and other research institutes to get introduced in eco-metabolomics and to avoid the most common misunderstandings. This strategy aims to integrate metabolomics in biodiversity research in a focused and successful manner.
Since my PhD project, I am fascinated about the possibilities of the method mass spectrometry. After 5 years of analyzing protein-protein interactions via metabolic labeling and high-performance mass spectrometry (nanoLC-MS/MS orbitrap), I will now enhance my knowledge in the field of metabolomics.
